Senator Carlucci Hosts Meeting of Seniors Advisory Committee

Nanuet, NY (March 26, 2012) – In an effort to increase dialogue between state government and the rapidly growing senior population in the Hudson Valley, Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Orange) will be hosting the first meeting of his newly established Seniors Advisory Committee. The volunteer-led panel is designed to discuss and offer solutions to the important issues facing seniors in Rockland and Orange counties.

The event is scheduled to be held Thursday, April 5th from 10:00 am to noon, located in the Community Center at the Congers Lake Memorial Park, 6 Gilchrest Road, Congers.

Nearly 75 residents are expected to attend the meeting.

“With large amounts of the baby boomer generation beginning to retire, now more than ever we need to find innovative ways to meet a growing demand for services while protecting the interests of all taxpayers ,” said Senator Carlucci. “This advisory committee is an important first step towards working together on many important issues, from affordable and quality healthcare to retirement security.”

The committee serves as a conduit to the Senator, designed to discuss issues important to seniors, and what action at the state level can be taken to meet their needs.  Among the topics discussed will include the restoration of the state EPIC program, tax relief through STAR Rebate, as well as an open forum to discuss legislation that seeks to reform existing laws in New York that impact seniors quality of life.
