Summer Health Tip Brochures to be Distributed throughout Rockland County
NANUET, NY – After a frightening report was released showing Rockland County ranked among the top three counties for West Nile Virus, Senator Carlucci (D-Rockland/Orange) today responded with his own public awareness campaign to keep residents safe and guarded against the mosquito-borne disease and other summer illnesses.
Beginning this week, Senator Carlucci’s office will be distributing 1,000 informational brochures throughout the county to senior centers, pools, day camps, and other places of congregation that offer helpful tips to keep residents healthy.
“We need to do everything in our power to provide residents the information necessary so that they understand how to keep themselves and their children safe,” said Senator Carlucci. “Summer season can bring with it a host of dangerous illnesses that can result from a lack of knowledge. This campaign will seek to address this in a family friendly way.”
The brochures teach residents ways how to prevent and combat illnesses from deer ticks and Lyme Disease, West Nile Virus, Eastern Equine Encephalitis, and other infectious diseases transmitted by insects.
Sun protection is also another critical element that is addressed for anyone spending a lengthy period of time outdoors. These brochures will detail expert recommended guidelines for using the right SPF sunscreen to prevent problems associated with the dangers of skin cancer and dehydration.
