Senator Carlucci Passes Resolution Proclaiming Irish American Heritage Month in New York

Nanuet, NY (March 14, 2012) – Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Orange) today introduced and passed State Senate resolution S.3176, which officially proclaims March 2012 as Irish American Heritage Month in the state of New York. With St. Patrick’s Day approaching fast, the measure was meant to give credence to the contributions and rich history that Irish Americans have demonstrated for generations.
“For generations, Irish Americans have placed an abiding faith in the same cherished values that their ancestors in Ireland have long held dear to their hearts – a commitment to family, faith, country and opportunity for all,” said Senator Carlucci. “We all stand together as one people, one nation, one state, to declare this month as Irish American Heritage Month.”
Prior to Senate passage, the Senator delivered a five minute speech on the Senate floor in Albany, reciting the many notable accomplishments and meaning to what the Irish American experience is all about.
