Statement by Senator Carlucci on the Two Year Anniversary of the Earthquake in Haiti
David Carlucci
January 12, 2012
“Today, on the two year anniversary of the devastating earthquake that rattled Haiti, we mourn and pray for those that were lost in that terrible event.
In the immediate aftermath of this tragedy, we saw the very best of human nature with an outpouring of support from millions of people throughout the world. The American people, and the people of the State of New York, rose to the occasion and offered their support in ways never imagined.
While many of the deepest wounds have begun to heal, Haiti and its citizens continue to struggle to rebuild. There is still much need and I'm especially honored to represent many charitable organizations in my district who have worked tirelessly to improve the conditions in Haiti.
While an earthquake can shake buildings and topple infrastructure, it cannot shake the soul and foundation of the people of Haiti. The people of Rockland and Orange counties continue to stand by their side.”
