Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos recently announced that Long Beach Medical Center has been awarded $4.98 million in state funding through the HEAL 21 program administered through the New York State Department of Health.
“I was pleased to have supported this initiative on behalf of the Long Beach Medical Center and all the communities served by this institution”, said Senator Skelos. “This funding will allow for the replacement of the Medical Center’s Outpatient Counseling Center, enable the installation of many needed technology upgrades as well as the modernization of the Ambulatory Care Services unit. Collectively, these improvements will go a long way to improving the quality of patient care to residents of the City of Long Beach.”
“I would like to thank Senator Skelos for his strong support of the Medical Center’s application for funding under the HEAL NY grant program”, said Doug Melzer, CEO, Long Beach Medical Center. “His support of our facility is reflective of his ongoing support of his district but most importantly to the City of Long Beach that will be better served because of his efforts”
The HEAL NY program is administered by the New York State Department of Health and is designed to allow medical facilities to improve primary and community-based care, eliminate excess bed capacity and reduce over-reliance on inpatient care in hospitals and nursing homes.
