"It is regrettable that what should have been a joyous and memorable occasion for new parents and their families was turned into affont at Lenox Hill Hospital on January 6. In an effort to secure the privacy of a celebrity couple - who themselves had just witnessed the birth of their daughter unperturbed, Neil Coulon was allegedly denied access to visit his wife and newborn daughters in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
Incidents such as these underline the stark contrast between the privileges afforded to the affluent and the indifference to middle class, moderate and low-income families. I have asked Lenox Hill Hospital to look into this matter and take the appropriate action to restore faith in the delivery of quality medical service without regard to socioeconomic status."
