Bronx, NY -St. Barnabas Hospital CAPP (Comprehensive Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention) project, in collaboration with Bronx Connect ATI (Alternative to Incarceration), and Senator Gustavo Rivera (D, WF) is pioneering an initiative to bridge the generational communications gap between teens and their parents in the New York City.

The BronxConnect Alternative-to-Incarceration (ATI) is a faith and community based alternative-to incarceration program for Bronx court-involved youth, ages 13-19, focused around mentoring services. The Teen Health Center (THC) is located at the Union Community Health Center THC is committed to the holistic well being of youth in the Bronx and receives funding from the St. Barnabas Hospital CAPP project.  The THC CAPP project focuses on the power of our Bronx youth as individuals and their importance to make healthy individual decisions to positively impact their Bronx communities

Five families will participate in a series of workshops facilitated by St Barnabas THC staff and representatives from Cornell University . This program will conclude with a celebratory dinner with Senator Gustavo Rivera who is a strong supporter. "Programs like these help to strengthen our community by providing much needed mentoring and education about issues of public safety and health, " said Senator Rivera  "They also help to make participants more aware and acute to issues that affect their lives. I am proud to support this initiative and look forward to our continued partnership."
