Senator Farley Announces Executive State Budget to Be Released on Jan. 17th

Hugh T. Farley

January 13, 2012

On January 17th, Governor Cuomo will release his Executive Budget for State Fiscal Year 2012-13. Once it is released, the specific details will be available at http://www.governor.ny.gov/ and also at the Budget Division's website at http://www.budget.ny.gov/

My colleagues and I in the New York State Senate will be diligently going over the Executive Budget and then host public hearings on issue areas such as education, health, local government and transportation. The hearings will begin on Monday, January 23rd, and continue through Tuesday, February 14th, with the goal of completing the process by the State budget deadline of April 1st. For information on reports and schedules, visit the Senate website at http://www.nysenate.gov/

Last year, the Senate worked with the Assembly and the Governor to produce an on-time budget. This year, we in the Senate are once again expediting our review of the Governor's proposed budget with the aim, and hope, of negotiating a timely and balanced agreement.

As we move forward with a public process to resolve any possible differences between the Governor, Senate and Assembly, my colleagues and I in the Senate will keep mandate relief, jobs, school aid and Medicaid reform at the forefront of our talks.
