State Senator Jack Martins attended the Elmont Union Free School District Chamber Orchestra performance as part of "Music in Our Schools Month" at the State Capitol this past week. The group, led by Elmont resident and Music Teacher Xavier Rodriguez, performed at the Empire State Plaza. After the concert, Senator Martins invited the group to come to the Senate chamber and visit the Senate before session. Senator Martins also surprised the students when Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos dropped by to speak to the group. "The Elmont orchestra did a sensational job and made the entire Elmont, South Floral Park and Stewart Manor communities proud," said Senator Martins adding, "I'm glad Senator Skelos and I were able to bring them to the Senate and share this special day." In this photo, students and parents are standing at the Senate President's podium on the floor of the New York State Senate with Senator Martins and Senator Skelos.
