Local Officials from 42nd Senate District and 97th Assembly District Meet in Albany for Informational Forum
State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/I/C - Mount Hope) and State Assemblywoman Annie Rabbitt (R,C,I – Greenwood Lake) hosted “Local Government Day” in Albany, which connects local officials from the 42nd Senate District and the 97th Assembly District with New York State Agency officials, to share pertinent information to assist local communities.
“I organize this event every two years in an effort to help and guide our localities,” said Senator John Bonacic. “This year, area officials were presented with State resources and information on; Emergency Response, Environmental Improvement Projects, Municipal Financing, SEQRA and the Local Role, Grant and Training Applications for Local Grants Funding, Water and Sewer infrastructure, Public Transportation and Open Meetings Law. I wholeheartedly believe that the more open communication, knowledge and resources we have, the better we can serve the public.”
“Representing Orange and Rockland counties Senator Bonacic and I are very fortunate to collaborate with so many dedicated and hard-working local officials, and by everyone coming together here in Albany we can help continue to foster that sense of cooperation and better deliver for our collective constituents,” said Assemblywoman Annie Rabbitt, “I would like to thank Senator Bonacic for his leadership and all the officials, and state agencies involved, for making the trip up to Albany and their continued partnership.”
Dozens of local officials traveled to Albany to hear presentations given by State agency representatives from; the Mid Hudson Region Empire State Development Corporation, the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services, the New York State Environmental Facilities Corporation, the Office of the State Comptroller, the New York State Department of the Environment, the Department of State, and the New York State Department of Transportation. Additionally, several officials met with Senator Bonacic personally to discuss specific issues within their localities.
