Senator Bonacic Honors Joanne Rosenberger of Sullivan County as His 2012 Woman of Distinction

Senator John Bonacic (R/C/I- Mt. Hope) today honored Joanne Rosenberger of  Sullivan County at the New York State Senate’s 15^th Annual Woman of Distinction Celebration. The Senate’s “Woman of Distinction” program was created in 1998 to honor New York women who exemplify personal excellence.

Joanne Rosenberger has served as a Girl Scout leader for the past 20 years and currently runs three troops to ensure all children who wish to participate have a place to do so. This past year, Joanne and one of her troops built a nature and exercise trail behind the Delaware Youth Center in Callicoon, N.Y. The troop spent countless hours planning, designing, digging, and building under the guidance and with the assistance of Joanne.  The troop subsequently earned the highest award in Girl Scouts, the Gold Award. Additionally, they were instrumental in helping Callicoon win the top prize in the Sullivan County Renaissance competition; $25,000. 

“Joanne truly defines what this celebration is all about and I am proud to recognize and celebrate her accomplishments today,” said Senator John Bonacic. “Joanne is committed to serving her community. For the past 20 years, she has dedicated her talent and countless hours of her time, teaching and inspiring the next generation of women through her work with the Girl Scouts. Joanne embodies all the qualities associated with being a Woman of Distinction; she is an excellent  role model and an incredible asset to our community.” 

The New York State Senate honored distinguished women from throughout the state at an Albany ceremony, where each honoree’s photograph and biography was part of a special exhibit proclaiming the contributions of these exemplary New York women.
