Senator Serrano today attended the Dunk the Junk Nutrition Fair in East Harlem sponsored by NewYork-Presbyterian Ambulatory Care Network. The fair offered free health screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar. Health Insurance Representatives were also present to answer questions. The event featured music, games, prizes, giveaways, and cooking lessons.
“It is great to see the community come together and make a commitment to living longer, healthier lives,” said Senator Serrano. “My district, particularly East Harlem and the Bronx, suffers from disproportionally higher rates of obesity, asthma, and heart disease, among other health issues. A lot of these conditions can be controlled with small changes to our diets and more physical activity. I would like to thank NewYork-Presbyterian Ambulatory Care Network for organizing this event and raising awareness of the importance of making health a priority.”
