Senator Serrano celebrated the ribbon cutting of Manhattan Neighborhood Network’s (MNN) El Barrio Fire House Community Media Center in East Harlem. MNN’s El Barrio Fire House and Community Center was transformed in 2011 from a Fire House to a production and broadcast facility.
“I think this is a tremendous opportunity to empower our youth through media,” said Serrano. “"By encouraging our youth to foster their creative minds, they will be more engaged in their social and home life, and more successful in school. In addition, this studio will represent a great opportunity for the uptown cultural sector and local artists to help get their message out.”
Council Member Melissa Mark-Viverito and other community leaders also attended the grand opening of the El Barrio Fire House Community Media Center.
