Senator Serrano today celebrated the ribbon cutting of the New Settlement Community Center in the Bronx. The celebration was hosted by the Settlement Housing Fund and New Settlement Apartments. Located in the Mt. Eden section of the Southwest Bronx, the New Settlement Community Center is part of a larger community school campus that combines two new public schools, pre-Kindergarten through grade twelve, special education classrooms, a health clinic and outdoor places.

“This is a tremendous opportunity to increase social and academic success for our youth and their families,” said Senator Serrano. “This state-of-the-art facility will provide countless young people with an outlet to engage in activities that will foster learning and development. Many thanks to the Settlement Housing Fund and New Settlement Apartments for over twenty years of work in helping to revitalize our neighborhood,” continued Senator Serrano.

Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr., Deputy Bronx Borough President Aurelia Greene, Assemblywoman Vanessa Gibson and Council Member Helen Foster also joined Senator Serrano in the celebration and grand opening of the New Settlement Community Center. The new center is located at 1501 Jerome Avenue and 172nd Street in the Bronx.
