Senator Serrano Honors USA Men's Olympic Gymnast John Orozco in Proclamation Ceremony

(Bronx, NY)- Senator Serrano celebrated the accomplishments of USA Men's Olympic Gymnast and South Bronx native John Orozco in a proclamation ceremony hosted at Roberto Clemente State Park. The event included a video montage and guest speakers, including Assemblymember Vanessa L.Gibson.
"I am proud to celebrate the talents and accomplishments of John Orozco. John serves as not only an example, but as an inspiration to all of us," said Serrano. "As a fellow Bronxite, I was thrilled to witness John's hard work and dedication culminate with his participation in the Olympic games. His determination and perseverance shows us that you can do anything you put your mind to. Because of John's success more and more young people will be getting involved in gymnastics and other sports. I look forward to watching John compete in future Olympic Games," continued Serrano.
John Orozco competed in the 2012 London Summer Olympics, placing fifth and eighth place, respectively. Prior to competing in the Summer Olympics, Orozco competed in the 2012 Visa Championships winning the All Around Gold medal and scoring the national championship.
