Serranos Celebrate Black History Month

Bronx, NY--State Senator José M. Serrano and Congressman José E. Serrano today honored four exceptional local community leaders in their annual celebration of Black History Month.
The Honorees were Robert T. Johnson, Bronx County District Attorney; Carl E. Heastie, Assemblyman of the 83rd NYS Assembly District and The Bronx County Democratic Party Chair; Karen Washington, President of NYC Community Garden Coalition; and Deirdre Scott, Executive Director of The Bronx Council of the Arts. Each honoree received a Congressional Record and a State Senate Proclamation.
“During this month of celebration, it's an honor to acknowledge these extraordinary leaders, who have made remarkable contributions in their respective fields," said Senator Serrano. Their success serves as an inspiration to not only the African American community, but to all New Yorkers."
