Addabbo: Resorts World Again Shatters Record WITH Highest Weekly Revenue in New York Gaming History!

Queens, NY, July 18, 2012 --  NYS Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. (D-Howard Beach), a member of the Senate Minority’s Racing, Gaming & Wagering Committee, reacted today to news released by Resorts World New York Casino that the Queens destination has just had the best week in New York State Lottery history and that same week, was able to send more than $10 million to Albany to support education, the horse racing industry and other state entities, with $6.5 million alone allocated to the State’s education fund, according to just-released weekly figures.

Shattering the previous weekly record for gross slot gaming revenue and tax-generation by a gaming property in the State of New York, Resorts World Casino New York City (RWNY) took in nearly $15 million from July 1 to July 7. Resorts World New York generated gross gaming revenues of $14.9 million in just one week, outdoing the casino’s previous high of $14.4 million in February and setting a state record in the process.

“Just as I stated publicly last month, Resorts World Casino continues to be the generator of millions of dollars in revenue to the city and state and provided more than 3,000 jobs.  In eight and a half months since opening day,  RWNY has has sent more than $311 million in taxes to the state, including more than $198 million earmarked for education.  Faced with such success, I believe our state government must not be so irrational to overlook  the possibility of thousands more job opportunities and extensive revenue that could be created here by maximizing Resorts World’s potential, allowing Genting to build the convention center at no cost to taxpayers, after the legislature and New Yorkers legalize full gaming, probably next year. The groundbreaking could happen the day after voters say yes,” noted Senator Addabbo.
