Letter to the Editor from Senator Addabbo‏

Dear Editor: 

I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to all the people who made my 4^th Annual Veterans Appreciation Bar-B-Que, held on August 25, such a success.  I consider it an honor to represent such fine veterans, who have selflessly served our country, preserving our way of life. 

First,  I want to thank all of our veterans and their families for their dedicated service. Veterans should be shown respect and admiration each and every day of the year. 

Secondly, here is a list of merchants and residents who made the day possible with generous donations:  Brothers Deli; Bruno’s Restaurant; Carvel of Howard Beach; Cero’s of Floral Park; Lenny’s Pizza; Ragtime Deli; Russo’s on the Bay; Sal’s Food Market; and Sugar Bun Bakery.  I thank them all. 

Many thanks to Pat Connolly, Commander of VFW Post 2565, for his generous donation of time and their building and also to his Vice Commander, Larry Genovese, who helped work the grill. A special thank you to Mike Sarter for setting and manning the grill all day and to Mary and John Wagner, who entertained us all throughout the afternoon. 

It was wonderful to see over 125 veterans from World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan and their spouses enjoy the day.  I look forward to seeing them all again next year for our 5^th Annual Bar-B-Que.
