LaValle: $400,000 Secured for Southampton Road

The Town of Southampton’s  Springville Rd., in Hampton Bays will be repaved and reconstructed with $400,000 secured by New York State Senator Kenneth P. LaValle from the New York State Transportation Department, it was announced today.

Senator LaValle and Assemblyman Fred Thiele were approached for help by Southampton Town Highway Department Superintendent Alex Gregor last spring. Senator LaValle requested NYS Department of Transportation Multi-Modal Funds and was told the funding was approved last week.

“This critically important state funding helps Southampton maintain and repair its highway infrastructure,”  Senator LaValle said.  “I am pleased that it will enable the Town to move forward with road improvements without placing additional pressure on local property taxes."

New York State Assemblyman Fred Thiele said,  “As a member of the Assembly Transportation Committee, I am pleased that this long needed work on Springville Rd. in Hampton Bays will soon be undertaken.  Thanks to State Senator Ken LaValle, we have been able to utilize this significant transportation funding to rehabilitate and beautify this important corridor in our community.” 

Southampton Town Highway Superintendent Alex Gregor said, "On behalf of the residents of Hampton Bays and the taxpayers of the Town of Southampton,  I  extend a heartfelt thank you to Senator LaValle and Assemblyman Thiele for their efforts.  This money will enable the Southampton Town Highway Department to pave additional roadways and further assist us in improving  road infrastructure and vehicular safety."

"I sincerely appreciate the swift assistance of our state representatives, Senator LaValle and Assemblyman Thiele, in securing this important funding.  The students and residents of Hampton Bays who walk and travel Springville Road daily will be very well served by the improvements this funding will provide," said Southampton Town Supervisor Anna Throne-Holst.

New York State Department of Transportation Multi-Modal funding is for project costs of construction, reconstruction, enhancement, improvement, replacement,  reconditioning, restoration, rehabilitation and preservation of  State, county, town, city and village roads, highways, parkways and bridges where continuous service life is 10 or more years following project completion and NYSDOT reimbursement.
