The New York State Association of Nurse Anesthetists (NYSANA), the statewide professional association representing over 1200 Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA)  and students, announced today their support and honor of Senator Mark Grisanti (R-60) for his work in the New York State Senate.  The mission of NYSANA  is to promote and protect the scope of practice of Nurse Anesthetists through advocacy and education.   The group met with the Senator at the Fort Orange Club where they made the presentation during a morning breakfast.

“It is with great pleasure and pride that I accept the support of the New York State Association of Nurse Anesthetists,” said State Senator Mark Grisanti (R-60).  “These men and women who serve as anesthesia administers enable healthcare facilities to provide vitally needed services like obstetrical, surgical and trauma stabilization.  Due in large part to the professionalism of these CRNAs , anesthesia care is nearly 50 times safer than thirty years ago.  I am thankful for the work they do and hope to continue to work with them to ensure the highest quality of healthcare for patients across the state of New York.”

The NYSANA plans to hold their spring meeting in Niagara Falls in conjunction with the Ohio
State Association of Nurse Anesthetists.  As many as 3,000 practicing nurse anesthetists are invited to attend the conference held from May 4-6 in the Niagara Falls Convention Center  with educational sessions and networking.

CRNAs provide anesthesia in collaboration with surgeons, anesthesiologists, dentists, podiatrists, and other qualified healthcare professionals to almost 30 million patients each year. In rural settings, the CRNA provides 100 percent of the anesthesia.  Nurse anesthetists have been the main providers of anesthesia care to U.S. military men and women on the front lines since WWI, including the conflict in Iraq.
