Three Traffic Lanes Closed From Fingerboard Bridge Overpass to Verrazano-Narrows Brooklyn-bound Toll Plaza

Sat., Jan. 28th Between 12:01 AM And 7 AM

Wide-load Trucks Will Be Barred Eastbound From 11 p.m. To 8 a.m.

On Saturday, Jan. 28th between 12:01 a.m. and 7 a.m. three out of four lanes of traffic on the Staten Island Expressway will be closed from the Fingerboard Bridge overpass to the Verrazano-Narrows Brooklyn-bound toll plaza while a new traffic pattern is put in place.

Motorists should expect delays and leave extra travel time.

Wide-load vehicles traveling eastbound into Brooklyn will be barred from crossing the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge while this work is being done and should seek an alternate route beginning 11 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27th through 8 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28th.

In the event of bad weather the work will be rescheduled to the same time on Sunday, Jan. 29th.

The new traffic pattern is being put in place as part of the $50 million, 45-month Verrazano-Narrows toll plaza improvement project, which includes removing the last three unused Brooklyn-bound toll booths.

Electronic and fixed signs will be in place both before the toll plaza and along the Staten Island Expressway to alert motorists to the new traffic pattern, which will shift traffic to the right around the work zone area.
