Brooklyn – State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) has issued the following statement regarding the decision of United States Postal Service to remove both the Ovington Retail Station and the Brighton Beach Post Office from their closure list:
“It is such great news that the operations at the Ovington Retail Station Post Office, and the Brighton Beach Post Office, will not be shut down United States Post Office. I thank the Postmaster General for listening to the people and area officials, including myself, who asked that they keep these stations open so to continue to provide a high standard of customer service.
Throughout these most recent negotiations, I continued to stress how the postal needs of the community would not be adequately served if these mail stations closed. As the Post Office continues to look to reduce operating costs, they must always regard the needs of the customers who depend on them as their first priority.”
Senator Golden has organized petition drives and sent letters against the closing of these postal locations.
