Senator Golden to Honor Extraordinary Brooklyn Women in Celebration of Women’s History Month

Brooklyn – As March is designated as “Women’s History Month”, State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) today is announcing plans to host two events to honor outstanding women who have made a difference in our community.

 

Senator Golden will honor Mary Douglas of Gerritsen Beach Cares and Resurrection Church, Theresa Samuelson of the Gerritsen Beach Property Owners, Public School 277 Parent Teacher Association Co-Presidents Margaret Foti and Joan Marie Peterson, and Ioanna Giannopoulos of Hellenic Public Radio Kosmos FM. These women will be feted at a ceremony to be held this Thursday, March 1, 2012, starting at 7:00 p.m., at the Cort Club located at 2648 Gerritsen Avenue in Brooklyn.

 

Next week, Senator Golden will celebrate the accomplishments of nine extraordinary women at an event to be held at the Shore Hill Community Room, 9000 Shore Road, on Thursday, March 8, 2012, starting at 7:00 p.m.

 

The event will recognize Linda Addinisio of St. Anselm’s Elementary School, Dr. Lisa Eng of the Kings County Medical Society, Elizabeth Ferraro of St. Finbar’s Church, Katherine Khatari, Sara Nespoli, Camille Loccisano of the Loccisano Foundation and St. Frances Cabrini, Sister Fran Piccone of the Shore Hill Senior Program, Mary Quinones of Lutheran Medical Center and Elena Solitario of Pilo Arts Day Spa and Salon.

 

Senator Marty Golden stated, “Each and every day, these women to be honored make a true difference in our community. It is their involvement that has made our community the great place it is to live, work and raise a family. I look forward to paying tribute to all that these women have done in their lives. Their resumes should be an inspiration to all of us.”
