Brooklyn – State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn), a member of the New York State Senate Committee on Homeland Security, Military and Veteran Affairs, today is inviting local residents to celebrate Flag Day at a Concert on Sunday, June 10, 2012, at 3:00 p.m. in Marine Park, entrance at Fillmore Avenue and Marine Parkway.
The concert will feature performances by the Kings County American Legion Headquarters Band and others. The event will commemorate the United States Army’s 237th Birthday and the gathering will allow for a show of support for the men and women of the military.
Senator Marty Golden said, “As Americans plan celebrations of the Flag of the United States and the soldiers of our Army, we will honor the greatness of our nation and the service of the men and women heroes of the U.S. Army. We must encourage patriotism among our citizens so that we never forget that we live in the greatest Nation on Earth.”
“Our military and the American Flag are both revered around the world. May we host this local tribute, in Marine Park, as a means to send a message that the people of Brooklyn, New York, are proud to be Americans,” continued Golden.
