Senator Golden Secures Improvements to Bay Ridge Avenue Train Station

Brooklyn – State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) today announced that the New York City Transit Authority has responded to his request to make improvements to the Bay Ridge Avenue train station along the R Line. In a recent letter sent to the Transit Authority, Senator Golden highlighted some of the concerns of commuters who utilize the subway station on a regular basis.

In response, New York City Transit Authority Thomas Prendergast has informed Senator Golden that the Bay Ridge Avenue Station will be included in their 2013 In-House Painting Program and will be scraped, primed and painted by the end of 2013. Additionally, all the stairways in this station are being scheduled for repair to meet current design standards for full metal treading and the stairway areas will be scraped and painted by the end of 2012.

Senator Golden stated, “I thank the New York City Transit Authority for responding to the concerns of the residents who frequent the Bay Ridge Avenue train station and who wish to start and end their commute in a cleaner and safer station. It is important that improvements such as these repairs are made so to better the quality of the commute of many. I am glad to see that these repairs have been approved by the Transit Authority.”

Golden continued, “I thank the residents for contacting me so to bring these concerns to my attention in an effort to improve these conditions.
