Senator Golden Urges Community to Participate in National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day

Brooklyn – State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) today is encouraging residents to participate in the 4th Annual National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, which is happening this Saturday, April 28, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Collection sites are located throughout Brooklyn and New York City, as well as the State and Nation. Residents can call 1-800-882-9539 or visit the “Collection Site Locator” found on the United States Drug Enforcement Agency Office of Diversion Control website at http://www.deadiversion.usdoj.gov/drug_disposal/takeback/index.html. Some area sites include the 68th Precinct, the Fort Hamilton Army Base, and the 61st Precinct.

Senator Marty Golden stated, “This Saturday is an opportunity for people throughout my district, Brooklyn, New York City and for that matter, the United States of America, to clean out their medicine cabinets. This is a great chance to get rid of those unwanted or expired medications and properly dispose of them so that they can no longer have the potential to pose a hazard to those who live in or visit your house.”

Last year, the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day turned in more than 377,086 pounds (188.5 tons) of unwanted or expired medical for safe and proper disposal.
