Brooklyn – State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) today is commending the work of the New York City Police Department who has arrested and charged Salvatore Perrone with the killing of 3 Brooklyn shop owners.

Senator Marty Golden stated, “I applaud the efforts of Police Commissioner Ray Kelly and the men and women of the NYPD who have devoted countless hours to this investigation. I know that solving these murders has been a priority since the first shooting this summer in Bay Ridge, near where Salvatore Perrone was arrested yesterday.”

Golden continued, “The sequence of these killings shocked and frightened merchants throughout Brooklyn, who much like these three victims, are business owners living for the American Dream. The continued presence of this criminal on our streets posed a threat to Brooklyn and our City, and made many fear the presence of a serial killer.”

“The continued vigilant work of the authorities, and of citizens who contacted the police with information, has led to this arrest today. I trust that Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes will prosecute this case fully to guarantee that justice is served. May we remember the Gebeli, Kadare and Vahidipour families at this time and pray for them to find peace and healing.”
