Update from National Grid on Water Main Break in Gravesend
Martin J. Golden
April 21, 2012
We wanted to take this opportunity to update you on our excellent progress in addressing the Brooklyn water main issue. I am pleased to report that as of 6:00 pm this evening:
· Street Main Service has been restored to 98% of customers and we are on target to complete restorations tonight.
· Relights have been completed for more than half of the customer (634 of the 1,200) and we expect to reach all those who are available tonight, while being sensitive to the Sabbath. Our ability to complete the relights will be dependent on gaining access.
· We removed 40,000 gallons of water
· More than 165 road openings were required.
· Extensive customer and media outreach has continued with the Mobile Emergency bus still on-site.
· Local customers have complimented us for our response.
This will be the final report, but I will continue to provide updates on individual issues as needed.
