Low Cost Power Will Help Create and Retain Hundreds of Jobs Across the Region
State Senator Mike Nozzolio today announced that nearly 50 private sector employers and not-for-profit organizations across the Greater Finger Lakes Region will receive lower cost power allocations under the ReCharge New York (RNY) program. ReCharge New York is a major statewide initiative that Senator Nozzolio worked with Governor Cuomo to establish that will retain and create jobs by making low-cost power available to New York State employers and manufacturers.
“Reducing energy costs for small businesses and manufacturers so they can hire more people here in our communities is a critical component of our efforts to restore Upstate New York’s economy,” said Senator Nozzolio. “I commend Governor Cuomo for his leadership in developing the ReCharge New York initiative and I was pleased to work with him to secure these critical investments in our region’s job creators.”
ReCharge New York is a major achievement in New York State's efforts to partner with the private sector across the State in the harnessing of lower-cost power for economic development. Employers in our region that will benefit from this low-cost power include:
- Finger Lakes Health at Geneva General Hospital
- Auburn Memorial Hospital
- Garlock Sealing Technologies
- Nucor Steel
- Guardian Industries
- Infotonics Technology Center
- Constellation Brands
- Silgan Manufacturing
- Ultralife
- IEC Electronics
- Seneca Foods Corporation
- New Energy Works of Rochester
- Empire Merchants North
- Wayne County Eggs
- Pactiv Corporation
- Owens-Brockway Glass Container
- Currier Plastics

The ReCharge New York program offers up to seven-year contracts for lower-cost power, replacing previous programs that were limited to providing only short-term allocations. Additional power allotments under Recharge New York are expected in the months ahead.
