Senator Nozzolio Encouraging Cold War Veterans to Apply for Recognition Certificate Program

State Senator Mike Nozzolio is encouraging local servicemen and women to apply for a Federal program that gives recognition to our valued veterans and government employees who served our Nation during the Cold War.

“It has long been my belief that there is no greater debt of honor than that which every American citizen owes to individuals who selflessly served our Nation during times of need,” said Senator Nozzolio. “The courage, preparedness and dedication of thousands of servicemen and women was crucial in keeping our Country safe and secure during the Cold War, and I am pleased that this important recognition is available to those who served at this challenging time.”

The program offers Cold War Recognition Certificates from the United States Department of Defense to all members of the Armed Forces, National Guard and Reservists, and qualified federal civilian personnel who honorably served during the Cold War era from September 2, 1945 to December 26, 1991.

Applicants must certify that their service was “faithful and honorable” and provide a copy of a supporting document which proves they served during the Cold War era. The certificate may be awarded posthumously to individuals whose relatives apply on their behalf. There is no charge for a Cold War Recognition Certificate.
