Breast Cancer Help, Inc. celebrated 20 years of the Long Island Breast Cancer Mapping Project at its 17th Annual Gala at the Island Hills Country Club in Sayville on June 29, 2012. President Lorraine Pace awarded Senator Owen H. Johnson a Certificate of Appreciation for his efforts and support of the Breast Cancer Mapping Project. The project began in West Islip in 1992 and created a scientific evaluation of a survey created to map the incidence of breast cancer. This mapping project aids in determining the causes of breast cancer and has since spread across the nation and also to other countries such as England, Australia and Japan .
