Senator Owen H. Johnson congratulated Nan Doherty on her appointment as the new Principal of St. John the Baptist Diocesan High School. Nan Doherty replaced former Principal Walter Lace who recently retired.
“I am most happy to congratulate Nan Doherty in her new role as Principal of St. John the Baptist Diocesan High School,” Senator Johnson said. “I am confident that St. John’s future is in good hands under her direction and leadership, and wish her all the best in her new role as Principal.”
For the past 16 years, Nan Doherty has served St. John the Baptist as the Assistant Principal for Curriculum, Instruction and Student Activities. She has worked tirelessly with faculty, alumni and parents for a variety of school events and activities.
Prior to her work at St. John the Baptist, Nan Doherty served as Chairperson and teacher in the Religious Education Department at St. Francis Preparatory School in Fresh Meadows. She was introduced into the Holy Trinity Diocesan High School Hall of Fame in 2005, as a graduate of the Class of 1974. She received her Bachelor’s degree from St. John’s University and her Master’s degree from Boston College.
