Senator Patrick M. Gallivan (59th District) is calling on Western New Yorkers to do their part to keep the blood supply strong this summer. Area residents will have an opportunity to donate blood next week at a Upstate New York Transplant Services (UNYTS) blood drive being sponsored by Senator Gallivan.

The blood drive runs from 9 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday, March 9th, taking place outside Senator Gallivan’s District Office at 4729 Transit Rd, Suite 7 in Depew.

Blood donated through UNYTS is put to life-saving use throughout Western New York. Just one pint of blood can help save up to three local lives, said Gallivan. “As the summer months approach, and accident rates of all kinds increase it’s critical that we keep our blood supplies flush and are always prepared in times of need. Your blood donation will be critically important in regional and nationwide efforts to keep the supply strong.”

Upstate New York Transplant Services is a Community Blood Bank. Its supply stays local and saves local lives. UNYTS is the supplier to Kaleida, ECMC and all of Niagara and Wyoming Counties hospitals.

To schedule an appointment to donate blood, please contact UNYTS at 716-512-7940, or you can sign up online at www.unyts.org. For more information, you can also contact Senator Gallivan’s office at 716-656-8544.
