Learn About New York’s "Women of Distinction" at Your Local Library

Senator Ritchie Encourages People to Visit Moving “Women of Distinction” Displays

People in Central New York will have an opportunity to learn about New York’s female leaders through a moving “Women of Distinction” display, featured at local libraries. 

The New York State Senate’s Women of Distinction program honors women—both past and present—who have made a difference.  Senator Ritchie kicked off the tour Thursday, with an event at the Fulton Public Library, which is hosting the exhibit through July 10^th.

“When you look back through history, it’s astounding to see the number of women who have made such a significant impact on our state—and our country,” said Senator Patty Ritchie.

“This display will enable people to learn about those women, as well as current “Women of Distinction” who are making a difference in their communities today.” 

The moving display will feature this year’s Woman of Distinction, Jan Rebeor of Oswego County, as well as other famous New York women; such as Rhoda Fox Graves, Susan B. Anthony, Harriet Tubman, Lucille Ball and more. 

The display will be featured at the following libraries:

Hannibal Library, July 11^th to July 19^th

Williamstown Library, July 20^th to July 30^th

Mexico Library, August 9^th to August 17^th

Sandy Creek Library, August 20^th to August 28^th

Central Square Library, August 29^th to September 6^th

Phoenix Library, September 19^th to September 27^th

Oswego City Library, September 28^th to October 8^th

Pulaski Library, September 10^th to September 18th
