“Senator Patty Ritchie Celebrates Local Artists” Continues, Seeks New Participants

Three new local artists are being featured in State Senator Patty Ritchie’s Oswego, Jefferson and St. Lawrence County offices as part of the Senator’s effort to highlight local creative talent.

“From the St. Lawrence River and Lake Ontario to the many historic buildings and landmarks that dot our region, Central and Northern New York are truly beautiful places,” said Senator Ritchie.  “What many people don’t realize though, is that there are so many talented, local artists capturing that beauty and creating world-class, unique designs inspired by where we live.”

“This program is not only an opportunity for local artists to promote their works, but is also a great way for people to become aware of some of the outstanding artists living right in our backyard.”

“Senator Patty Ritchie Celebrates Local Artists” launched in March, and since then has showcased more than a dozen artists.

The following artists are now being featured at the below locations:

·         Oswego County, 46 East Bridge St., Oswego:  Loie Mechetti, an award-winning artist from Phoenix.

·         Jefferson County, 317 Washington St., Watertown: Marie (Ree) Ingalsbe, an award-winning, Watertown artist in her 90’s who has created more than 100 different, original pieces of art.

·         St. Lawrence County, 330 Ford St., Ogdensburg: Justin Fishel of Ogdensburg shoots high definition photos of St. Lawrence County landmarks, offering a new perspective on what are often familiar scenes.

Artwork will be available for viewing at the above locations during normal business hours.  Senator Ritchie is encouraging additional artists to participate in the program.  Those interested can contact (315) 782-3418.
