Ritchie to Host Senior Health and Wellness Fair October 11th

Special Guest on Hand to Answer Questions About EPIC Program

State Senator Patty Ritchie will host a Senior Health and Wellness Fair on Thursday October 11th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Fulton’s War Memorial, located at 609 West Broadway.

At the event, seniors will have the opportunity to receive tips and tools for living a healthy lifestyle from 60 exhibitors.  A free lunch will also be served.

As an added benefit, Senator Ritchie will also host a Q&A session on the EPIC program, with special guest Senator David Valesky, Chair of the Senate’s Aging Committee.

More than 10,000 seniors in the Senator’s district benefit from EPIC, a program which helps low-income seniors with the cost of their prescription drugs.  Senator Ritchie was instrumental in restoring funds to EPIC in the past two State Budgets, and reinstating prescription drug co-pays.

“From flu shots to fitness tips, this event is all about giving our area’s senior citizens access to organizations promoting healthy living,” said Senator Ritchie.

“One of the biggest tools our seniors have to help keep them in good health is EPIC.  I’d like to thank Senator Valesky for taking his time to address some of the concerns seniors in Central New York have about this very important prescription drug program.”

Senator Ritchie recently hosted Senior Health and Wellness Fairs in Jefferson and St. Lawrence Counties, where more than 1,000 seniors had the opportunity to access tips and tools promoting good health.
