On-Time Budget Eyed for Second Straight Year
State Senator Patty Ritchie has been named to a special Senate budget subcommittee assigned to review the Governor’s proposed budget.

The subcommittee will review the Transportation, Motor Vehicles, Environment, Agriculture, Energy, Parks,  and Housing sections of the proposed State budget.

"I am very pleased to have this opportunity to offer my ideas during the Senate’s budget review. I have been attending as many public budget hearings as possible as well as meeting with individuals and groups back home on their suggestions,” Senator Ritchie said. “I think it’s important for the Senate to work with the Governor to find ways to streamline government operations  without imposing new taxes and burdensome fees.”

"Highways, agriculture, housing and the environment are very important issues affecting the people of Central and Northern New York,” Senator Ritchie said. “I am looking forward to working with the Governor to develop a common sense approach to allocating our state’s priorities.”

The panels have been asked to begin meeting soon on an accelerated basis to have recommendations by March 5 so the legislature can adopt an on-time budget for the second year in a row by April 1st.
