First Annual Event Held in St. Lawrence County
Seniors were able to get health and wellness tips Wednesday at Senator Ritchie’s first-ever St. Lawrence County Senior Health and Wellness Fair.
The event, which was held at Odd Fellows Hall in Ogdensburg, featured more than 60 organizations.
“Our seniors are looking for ways to help them continue to live healthy and active lifestyles. That’s what this fair was all about—giving people access to organizations that can help them live their lives to the fullest,” said Senator Ritchie.
“The fair also gave me the chance to talk with our area’s seniors, who shared their thoughts on ways to make living in New York State a better experience. I will definitely be taking many of those suggestions back to Albany.”
At the fair, seniors also had the opportunity to learn about EPIC, a program that helps low-income seniors with the cost of their prescription drugs. Senator Ritchie was instrumental in restoring funds to EPIC in the past two State Budgets, and reinstating prescription drug co-pays. More than 10,000 seniors in Senator Ritchie's region benefit from the program.
In September, Senator Ritchie hosted her first Senior Health and Wellness Fair of the year in Jefferson County. The event attracted nearly 1,000 senior citizens to the Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds in Watertown.
Senator Ritchie will host one more Health and Wellness Fair at Fulton’s War Memorial, located at 609 West Broadway on Thursday October 11th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Seniors can preregister for the event by clicking here.
