McDonald Teams up with the Autism Society of America to Host Autism Insurance Training Seminar

Roy J. McDonald

March 23, 2012

Saratoga Springs – Senator Roy McDonald will be joined by representatives from the Autism Society of America to offer information and training to insurance providers along with individuals affected by autism on the recently passed legislation that guarantees access to insurance coverage.

McDonald sponsored the legislation as Chairman of the Senate’s Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Committee. Previous to the passage of the legislation, those with autism and their families were routinely denied coverage for diagnosis and treatment. The bill passed both houses and was signed into law in 2011.

“I’ve heard the stories from many parents about choosing between buying food or paying for the necessary medical treatment their loved one needs, with this law they no longer have to make that impossible decision. This seminar will provide information so that people get the help they need without unnecessary obstacles,” said McDonald.

The seminar will be held at the Saratoga Springs City Center on Saturday, March 24 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Please call Senator McDonald’s office at 455-2381 for more information.
