New York’s Archbishop Timothy Dolan has been elevated to serve as a Cardinal in the Catholic Church. New Jersey’s Governor Chris Christie has vetoed legislation which would have redefined marriage.
My dear reader, this weekend we have great cause to celebrate.
I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to Cardinal Dolan. You need to know, dear reader, that Cardinal Dolan’s loving and joyful spirit are a great blessing to the Catholic community and to the State of New York. Cardinal Dolan has turned his tremendous honor into a warm embrace for all of New York. As he continues his faith journey and meets new challenges, I am hopeful that all of us will be able to offer him our support and prayers.
I would also like to extend my sincere congratulations to New Jersey Governor Chris Christie for keeping his word by vetoing legislation that opposes traditional marriage. You need to know, dear reader, that after the New Jersey State Legislature passed a gay marriage bill, Governor Christie vetoed the measure. I am very proud of Governor Christie for having the fortitude to leave the decision to legalize or to not-legalize gay marriage in New Jersey to the voters - not to the legislature.
My dear reader, I hope that as Governor Christie continues to serve the people in the Garden State, that we will remember how he stood by our side when we needed him most and, and we will be there for him.
In these dangerous times that we live in - times that lack family values and lack respect for human life - it is refreshing to see how God has blessed us with these two champions.
Cardinal Dolan is a staunch defender of the sanctity of family life. Clearly it is God’s will that he has been chosen by the Almighty to lead us in these times of uncertainty.
Governor Christie has also shown that he stands for family values. It is a rare to find any politician in our days – especially in a liberal state – where we can find this kind of integrity. The action taken by Governor Christie to defend the family in this region of our nation takes courage and commitment.
My prayers are with Cardinal Dolan and Governor Christie, and I ask for all of you to pray for both of them so God can continue to give them strength and wisdom.
I am Senator Rev. Rubén Díaz and this is what you should know.
