WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
By
State Senator Rubén Díaz
32nd Senatorial District
(718) 991-3161
I am amazed at the double standard used by Governor Andrew Cuomo when he threatened the unions by saying “If you are linking political contributions to a specific vote, you might get a call from the Attorney General, the District Attorney or JCOPE.”
You should know and remember that during the struggle to get same sex marriage approved in the State, everyone said, and rumors floated around, that it was Governor Cuomo and Mayor Michael Bloomberg who offered all kinds of moral, economic and political support to those Senators who voted according to what they wanted. Everyone was talking about how people sold their vote and their soul.
The newspapers reported and it is public knowledge that the Republican Senators who voted for same sex marriage, soon after became “politically rich”.
On one side, Governor Cuomo told the Republicans who voted for same sex marriage not to worry, that he would protect them. Now, he is threatening the unions with scare tactics and criminal investigations. This is pure hypocrisy and a double standard.
I am State Senator Rubén Díaz and this is what you should know.
