Our boycott against the newspaper, “El Diario La Prensa” apparently has resulted in a slow but sure downfall. Their house has collapsed, forcing them to find a buyer to resuscitate the corpse.

Tired of the tyrannical and contemptuous ways in which they write against Christians and all that is related to our religious beliefs, some time ago we started a boycott against “El Diario La Prensa.” During the boycott, Christians were asked not to contribute their fifty cents to the spread and betterment of a newspaper, whose main goal is to promote gay marriage, abortion, and to attack and ridicule everyone and everything who disagrees with their position.

In today’s New York Post article, "Don't cry for me, El Diario,” Keitth J. Kelly, discusses the reasons for the downfall and ultimate sale of “El Diario La Prensa.” In his column, Mr. Keith said “El Diario La Prensa has seen its circulation tumble in recent years, with some staffers blaming current leadership for mismanagement and ineptitude.”

The Administrator’s ineptness has driven El Diario La Prensa to an extreme left position, becoming deaf to the cries of a community that comes from very conservative countries, with a tradition and culture far different from what the administration of “El Diario La Prensa” fails to understand.

To make matters worse, the scandalous and embarrassing case of having, among their staff, a Russian spy named Vicky Palaez, accused, arrested and deported to Russia for treason. You have to wonder how can a newspaper like this can survive.

Now, when ownership of “El Diario La Prensa” passes to “El Periodico La Nacion,” the oldest publication in Argentina, seventeen of its employees will be terminated, leaving them without a job or resources to support themselves and their families.

The new administration from “El Peridico La Nacion,” believes that, by dismissing seventeen innocent employees and retaining the old administration responsible for “El Diario La Prensa’s” downfall, they will restore it to its past prominence, stellar reputation and will lead to an increase in circulation.

My advice to the new owners of “El Diario La Prensa” is that, when a company does not work, you must cut the head and not the body. It is the head that directs, coordinates and gears the body to success or failure.

The head here is Executive Editor, Erica Gonzalez, CEO Monica Lozano and long-time publisher, Rossana Rosado. Until this trinity is removed from “El Diario La Prensa,” and a new impartial administration, concerned with the issues of all groups and ideologies in our community, it will continue plunge into complete failure. Until then, and now more than ever, it is important that our boycott continues.

Relying on Psalm 40, verse 1, which says: "I patiently waited for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry," I will continue to ask that Christians not buy the newspaper.
