Community leader is honored at Empire State Plaza ceremony in Albany
Senator Steve Saland (R,I,C, Poughkeepsie) announced that Gaye Mallet is being honored today by the State Senate as a 2012 New York State Woman of Distinction.
The Senate’s “Women of Distinction” program was created in 1998 as part of the Senate’s celebration of Women’s History Month to honor New York women who exemplify personal excellence, or whose professional achievements or acts of courage, selflessness, integrity or perseverance serve as an example to all New Yorkers.
Gaye has been active in the Dutchess County business community for many years, including her current position as the Human Resources Director for Adams Fairacre Farms, Inc. In 2002, she was elected to the Poughkeepsie Area Chamber of Commerce board of directors and continues to serve as chairman of the newly organized Greater Southern Dutchess Chamber of Commerce.
Gaye currently serves on several committees and boards including the Mid-Hudson Civic Center & McCann Ice Arena executive committee, the Vassar Warner Home Foundation board, the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce executive board, and the Freedom Plains Presbyterian Church elder board. In 2010 and 2011 she was the Pace Setter Chair for the United Way Campaigns and the 2011 Co-Chair of the Dutchess County Arts Fund.
For the past 25 years, Gaye has presented, mentored and taught at numerous seminars, programs and workshops for high school and college students, as well as for professionals both locally and nationally. Gaye has been recognized for her leadership by the YWCA Salute to Women award and the Girls Scouts Seat of Honor award.
Gaye lives in Poughkeepsie with her husband Stephen.
“Gaye Mallet’s contribution to the commercial growth in our county and her longevity as an active member of our community exemplifies the personal and professional achievements of the Women of Distinction honored by the State Senate,” stated Senator Steve Saland. “I have had the good fortune to have known Gaye Mallet for many years. She has given selflessly to her community time and time again. She is a remarkable woman and I am pleased to have this occasion to recognize what she has done to improve the quality of life in Dutchess County.”
