Be The Match® Donor Drive - Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013: What You Need to Know Before Joining
Andrew J Lanza
February 11, 2013
WHAT: Senator Andrew J. Lanza is partnering with Be The Match® (the National Marrow Donor Program® (NMDP) Registry) to help find a life-saving donor for Staten Island resident Stephen Curatolo (and other patients with life-threatening blood diseases). Curatolo is battling Stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Thanks to reporting by the Staten Island Advance, Senator Lanza was alerted to the plight of Mr. Curatolo and will host a donor drive at his district office on Saturday, February 16th. Be The Match® offers the unique opportunity to give a life-saving marrow transplant to someone in need. Thousands of patients with leukemia or other life-threatening disease depend on the Be The Match Registry®, the largest and most diverse registry in the world, to find a life-saving donor. Edward Serventi & Son will provide 150 hotdogs to those who attend the drive. It should only take about 20-30 minutes total to join the registry and possibly save a life. For more information about joining the registry open the attached document. Click here to read the Staten Island Advance article about Stephen Curatolo.
Guidelines for joining the registry at the drive:
1 - Be between the ages of 18 and 44
2 - Be willing to donate to any patient in need
3 - Meet the health guidelines
WHEN: Saturday, February 16, 2013 - 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
