Inspiring Young Students to Stand Up, Be Leaders and Be Counted
Senator Andrew Lanza joined administrators, teachers and students at Public School 5 on Staten Island today to announce a new bullying prevention campaign, “One Can Count,” that will help young students put the concepts of respect and compassion into practice year-round to prevent bullying.
Bullying behavior begins when children are young and affects emotional and physical health as well as a student’s ability to learn. This new program will instill positive leadership skills in elementary school students and teach them to put these skills into practice to prevent bullying. Bullying prevention efforts will be more effective when students know that “One Can Count.”
