Senate approves IRONMAN Lake Placid Bill
Betty Little
March 6, 2013
The State Senate today approved legislation sponsored by Senator Betty Little that authorizes out-of-state health care professionals to provide care to athletes competing in IRONMAN Lake Placid.
“This is an annual authorization that ensures this event is a success and that the athletes competing receive the care important to their recovery,” said Little.
The legislation (S3495) allows licensed health care professionals from other states who volunteer and are sanctioned by World Triathlon Corporation to perform services for the athletes. These include licensed physicians, physician assistants, massage therapists, chiropractors and podiatrists.
The bill was sent to the Assembly where companion legislation is sponsored by Assemblyman Dan Stec.
This year’s IRONMAN Lake Placid triathlon will be held July 28, 2013.
