Senate Transportation Committee to Hold Public Hearing on Mta’s Finances

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick), Chairman of the New York State Senate’s Transportation Committee, announced that the committee will be holding a public hearing on the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (MTA) finances. The hearing will provide the Committee with an update on the MTA’s capital spending plan and operating budget as they pertain to each MTA agency.
The hearing will be held on Thursday, October 10th at the State Office Building located at 250 Broadway, New York, New York 10007. The hearing will begin at 11 am in Suite 2034. The Committee will receive testimony from MTA Chairman Tom Prendergast as well as representatives of each agency which makes up the MTA. The State Comptroller’s Office will also provide testimony to the Committee.
“The MTA is one of the world’s largest transportation systems, serving millions of people each day. Ratepayers deserve to know how the MTA is spending their money. This hearing will provide the committee with an update on the MTA’s spending plans, what steps it is taking to cut costs and improve efficiencies, and the measures it is undertaking to control fares for riders,” said Senator Fuschillo.

- Howard Permut, MTA-Metro North Rail Road President
- Carmen Bianco, MTA-New York City Transit President
- Darryl Irick, MTA Bus Company President
- James Ferrara, MTA Bridges and Tunnels President
- Michael Horodniceanu, MTA Capital Construction President
- New York State Comptroller’s Office
Members of the public are welcome to attend and view the hearing, as well as submit written testimony. Oral testimony is by invitation only.
