New Path Provides Direct Link to Jones Beach From Wantagh State Parkway Bike-Pedestrian Path
New York State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) announced that the new Jones Beach access path, which will provide a direct link between the Wantagh Parkway Bike-Pedestrian Path and Jones Beach State Park, will be open for Memorial Day Weekend.
"Many residents from across Long Island run, ride, and walk on the Wantagh Parkway Bike-Pedestrian Path every day. This new path extension gives them direct access to Jones Beach, the crown jewel of the state parks' system, for the upcoming summer season. This is a great investment which will make it even easier for individuals to visit one of the best beaches anywhere in the world," said Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr., (R-Merrick).
The new path runs from the end of the Wantagh Parkway Bike-Pedestrian Path through the Jones Beach Theater parking area to the pedestrian underpass leading to the East Bath House. The .7 mile path provides a critical connection between the end of the Wantagh Parkway path and Jones Beach that for the first time gives users direct access to the beach from the path.
