Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) today announced that he has secured $1 million in new state funding for road repair and drainage improvements in Massapequa.
According to the Town of Oyster Bay, the improvements are necessary because of deteriorated pavement conditions and will help alleviate roadway flooding caused by storm water runoff and tidal influences in this flood prone area.
The Town of Oyster Bay will use the state funding to undertake a full reconstruction of the following roads in South Massapequa:
· Leewater Avenue between South Bay Drive and Curlew Place
· Ripplewater Avenue between South Bay Drive and Curlew Place
· Nearwater Avenue between South Bay Drive and Curlew Place
· Curlew Place between Leewater Avenue and Ripplewater Avenue
“These improvements will help prevent flooding and improve the quality of life for residents in South Massapequa. I am pleased to have secured state funding to help the Town of Oyster Bay undertake this project,” said Senator Fuschillo.
“The Town of Oyster Bay is grateful for the dedicated efforts of Senator Fuschillo and his securing this grant for the Massapequa area,” Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor John Venditto said. “The Town is pleased that upon the completion of this project, this area will have roadways that are less susceptible to flooding, will have a more efficient storm water drainage system, and a road that is up-to-date in form and function.”
