Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) is informing residents that New York State announced that Nassau and Suffolk Counties will be receiving over $750,000 in total combined grant funding to enhance their emergency preparedness capabilities.
“Our first responders are the front line of defense and put their lives on the line every day to protect our families. This new funding will give them additional resources to perform their duties and help keep our communities safe,” said Senator Fuschillo.
According to the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services, the grant funding will be used to:
• Enhance technical rescue and urban search and rescue capabilities;
• Advance law enforcement’s ability to detect, interdict, and respond to improvised explosive devices;
• Protect critical infrastructure, special events, or seasonal at-risk locations.
The grants, which are comprised of federal and state funds, are being distributed through the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services.
